i AM … VERY type A.

by Mojito Maven on August 29, 2008

I BELIEVE … in faith and God.
I WANT… a cocker spaniel puppy, preferably red or black.
I HAVE … naturally blond hair and I am proud of it!
I KEEP … every letter from Mr. Mojito in a secret place.
I WISH I COULD … become a chef or event planner.
I HATE … arrogance.
I FEAR … taking my life for granted.
I HEAR … laughing can take years off your life.
I DON’T THINK … I will ever be as political as everyone wants me to be.
I REGRET … not studying abroad.
I LOVE … with my whole heart and waking up next to Mr. Mojito.
I AM NOT … perfect.
I DANCE … like Elaine on Seinfeld.
I SING … ridiculously off-tune.
I NEVER … chew gum.
I RARELY … get enough sleep.
I CRY WHEN I WATCH … animal cruelty.
I AM NOT ALWAYS … a good driver (and I have very little patience for people who are slow).
I MISS … swimming.
I HATE THAT … I can have a short temper.
I’M CONFUSED ABOUT … whether I should pursue an MBA.
I NEED … to wear socks when I sleep.
I SHOULD … start running again and do some sit-ups.

I found this cute idea from Jasmine Star’s blog!

crummy day

by Mojito Maven on August 28, 2008

Today was a really crummy day. I wish my hubby was here…and a puppy could not hurt either.

This was sent to me and it did slightly brighten my day.

There is really no point to this post, I just wanted to get my feelings written down, hoping it would make me feel better. Luckily Mr. Mojito comes home tomorrow because I could really use a hug!

AND tomorrow is FRIDAY!! YAY for three day weekends!

data monkey

by Mojito Maven on August 28, 2008

The more I work in Corporate America the more I realize that job titles and descriptions may vary across businesses, but we all have one thing in common…we are all data entry monkeys. People constantly talk about the importance of their jobs, but in reality, you spend the majority of your day entering data.

Whether your analyzing financial data, consulting a Fortune 500 company, performing an audit, or forecasting marketing trends, at least some part of your day is spent entering data into a system.

Take my job for example…I am a systems engineer…sounds pretty exciting right? I work on reliability predictions, schematic analyses, failure trends, modeling and simulation, and system integration for various Army programs.

Let me translate for you what my job actually means:

I take DATA and enter it into various systems (Excel, Access, lots of other random engineering tools that I cannot even pronounce, etc) and these systems spit out MORE DATA for me to analyze and determine a solution.

So, what are my alternatives?
1. Become a wedding/event planner
2. Culinary School
3. Professional photographer
4. College professor
5. Go back to school (again) for my MBA
6. Continue being a data entry monkey (oops, I mean systems engineer)

Let us be honest, I need money so Corporate America is where I will stay!

crazy bagel lady!!!

by Mojito Maven on August 27, 2008

Scene:

Einstein’s Brothers Bagels during my lunch break. I ordered a power bagel, toasted, with plain cream cheese and half dozen bagels for breakfast later in the week. I have sat down at a table by the window and have started eating my power bagel and reading the newspaper. I have placed the other half dozen bagels I ordered for later in the week in the other chair at the table.

A woman approaches me wearing what can only be described as yoga gear. She stops in front of my table and just stares at me. So I look up at her…

Conversation:

Me: Hi…(with one of those smiles that says, “Why are you standing ridiculously close to my table in a very stalkerish way?”)

Yoga Chick: Are you eating a power bagel?

Me: Yes, why?

Yoga Chick: With plain cream cheese?

Me: Yes!…(at this point I am thinking this lady has lost her marbles and I am quickly planning my escape route)

Yoga Chick: In the middle of the day?

Me: Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yoga Chick: You do know that it is considered “uncouth” (and yes, she actually did say this word) to be eating a BAGEL during lunch time.

Me: Huh?

Return to Scene:

Then you want to know what happened?????????????? The Yoga Chick reached down into the chair with my extra bagels and took the bag full of bagels and ran out of Einstein’s and into a car waiting in the parking lot! The freaking Yoga Chick STOLE my bagels…WTF?????????? Who does that????? On a Wednesday (wearing yoga gear no less)???

I just sat there in my chair completely stunned. One of the employees of Einstein’s ran out of the store but she was long gone by then. The manager came out and quickly apologized to me, gave me some replacement bagels, and then reimbursed me for the bagels that were stolen. I seriously cannot get over the fact that this women came into Einstein’s with the intention of stealing bagels…I mean come on…a bagel costs less than a dollar each.

Maybe she was just really hungry after her yoga workout. Thoughts?

is this a joke?

by Mojito Maven on August 26, 2008

Seriously Heidi Montag? Seriously? Everyday a piece of my heart breaks because YOU ARE RUINING ONE OF MY FAVORITE SHOWS…please go back to pre-Spencer Heidi and the world will be good again.

Oh and if this “music video” was not enough entertainment for you, there are 7 MORE MINUTES of bonus footage at the end…please end me…

hibachi fever

by Mojito Maven on August 26, 2008

Tonight Princess Tartini, Sweet n’ Lo, and I are going to Benihana’s for dinner with some people from work. This is problematic for several reasons:

1. Every time I go to any type of hibachi grill I almost get my eyebrows burnt off.

2. I am allergic to chicken and some beef so most of the items on the menu I cannot even eat.

3. Being that the restaurant is Japanese, mojitos are often not available.

So, for those of you out in blog land, if you do not hear from me for several days, I have probably been admitted into the emergency room with a severe case of hives mixed with charred eyebrow.

Wish me luck!

902 dime

by Mojito Maven on August 25, 2008

Who is so freaking excited about the new 90210????? I AM!!!!! I have seen every episode at least 4 times and constantly have 902 dime watching parties (thanks to people showering me with the DVDs for my birthday and other occasions). I am not sure if the new cast is going to be able to pull off the greatness that was the original cast, but I am willing to give the new cast a shot.

And I cannot wait for Shannon Dougherty (Brenda Walsh) and Jennie Garth (Kelly Taylor) to be back on the show…now if only Luke Perry (Dylan McKay) would grace the viewers with his presence….hmmmmm

It is ok, you can admit it, you secretly loved watching this show back in the day.

mojito monday

by Mojito Maven on August 25, 2008

For those of you who doubted the superiority of the mojito, I present to you the “Bacardi Mojito Song” (no, I am not joking).

This mother of all cocktails not only has commercials dedicated to it but a song and video created specifically for it? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA…this just gets better and better.

Go grab some lime, mint, rum, and soda water and start muddling!!

song fun

by Mojito Maven on August 24, 2008

Mrs. Newlywed over at Misadventures of Newlywed is having a contest about guessing which songs were number 1 on days that are important to her. Go check out her blog and enter her contest (you could win some fun stationary that looks suspiciously like it was made for a Delta Gamma girl like me). Even if you do not win her contest, her blog is hilarious so you will end up sticking around!

Here are my results:

My Birthday: “All Night Long (All Night)” by Lionel Richie
Mr. Mojito’s Birthday: “All Night Long (All Night)” by Lionel Richie
Engagement: “Makes Me Wonder” by Maroon5
Our Wedding: “Lollipop” by Lil Wayne featuring Static Major
Day We Closed on Our House: “No One” by Alicia Keys
Sorority Initiation: “All I Have” by Jennifer Lopez featuring LL Cool J…ok, I’m a horrible person because the date I chose was a guess…someone may have to correct me
First Date: “I Wanna Love You” by Akon featuring Snoop Dogg
High School Graduation: “Foolish” by Ashanti
College Graduation: “SOS” by Rihanna
Masters Graduation: “Makes Me Wonder” by Maroon5

You can play here too!

a good laugh

by Mojito Maven on August 24, 2008

If you saw someone running on a treadmill only to trip on their own feet and then get flung from the treadmill into a wall while their iPod went flying into the air, would you:

a. Look at the person to make sure they are not dead but continue running on your treadmill
b. Stop and make sure they can walk
c. Point and laugh
d. Pretend you did not see them make a total ass of themselves

I noticed you wavered between choices a, c, and d, ultimately deciding on choice a…do not worry, you are not alone, so did the people at 24 Hour Fitness.

Maybe Monday will be a better day…
