wedding memories

by Mojito Maven on September 18, 2008

Being that I am a newlywed, I thought this quiz from Preppy Little Dress was rather fun.

what time of year did you get married? Spring, May 25th 2008 (but it was definitely summer weather here in Dallas).

Hackberry Creek Country Club is right on the Las Colinas canals which made for a beautiful backdrop.

what did the groomsmen wear? Black tuxedos with a black/charcoal gray striped tie. Mr. Mojito wore a coordinating, white striped tie.

color of bridesmaid dresses? Black cocktail dresses from J. Crew. how may bridesmaids? 6. are you still friends with all your bridesmaids? Yes (3 of them I have been friends with for over 10 years!).
location for reception? Hackberry Creek Country Club

band, dj or other? DJ
something unique about your wedding? EVERYTHING was DIY at my wedding (my wedding was truly a labor of love, but I would not have done it any other way)…save the dates, invitations, programs, table numbers, escort and place cards, menu cards, out of town boxes, fortune tellers, make a wish/take a wish signs, Chinese takeout container labels for the candy station, lemon cookie favors!

Photo mat instead of traditional guest book

Escort card sign said, “Ever since Mr. Mojito was a little boy, he has loved Peanuts comics and Snoopy in particular. Now, we both love this famous comic and the small life lessons included in each strip. The table numbers represent some of our favorite Peanuts memories. We hope that these comics bring a smile to your face and remind you of the great things that can be learned from a boy and his dog.”

Program quote said, “My greatest good fortune in a life of brilliant experiences has been to find you and lead my life with you.”

murphy’s law, you know if anything can go wrong it would? I did not get to eat my red velvet cake (and yes, I am still bitter). You can see from the picture below that it was so hot my cake was actually melting…awesome! Also, we were supposed to have an outdoor ceremony, but not only was it 100 degrees that day, but kids were swimming in the pool when they were not supposed to be and the air conditioning had broken at the country club the day before…needless to say it was HOT in the reception room.

where did you go on your honeymoon? Kaua’i

name one thing looking back you would of changed?
I wish I would have lived in the moment more because the day went by so fast!

Wow, that’s amazing! Seriously, you really DO need to do your own event planning business! My friend’s in Dallas own a business called AK Event Design and they do that and are AMAZING at it. You should contact them and see if you could do it very part time for them or something to gain some experience before you make the leap. They are super cool girls! Check them out: akeventdesign.com
