So apparently I must be ugly in person…awesome! And no, I am not fishing for compliments I am just irritated right now.
Preface:
When someone comes by my desk to talk with me I typically minimize all of the open documents on my computer screen because I deal with classified information. Anyway, what they usually see when looking at my computer screen is a picture of Mr. Mojito and me smiling back at them.
These are the three pictures I alternate between for my desktop background:
Co-Worker: What a beautiful picture!
Me: Thanks! We took it….[insert one of three responses depending on which picture is currently on my background]…at my home in Colorado…at the Dallas Arboretum for our engagement photos…immediately after our wedding ceremony!
Co-Worker: Oh, I did not realize that was YOU in the picture. You look so different…
Me: Well yeah, why would I have a random picture of a girl and Mr. Mojito on my desktop if it was not me?
Co-Worker: Yeah that makes sense…You just look nothing like that normally. Your hair is so blonde and looks nice, you are actually wearing makeup, and you are not wearing work clothes.
Me: So are you saying that I typically look bad? (and yes, I always ask this)
Co-Worker: No, no. That is not what I meant. I just…errr…did not even recognize you. You should dress like that more often.

I have a really funny engagement picture in my office, and I swear to you someone has to comment on it every time they come in my office. One woman in particular is a huge fan of “I don’t know WHY you would put a picture up of you making that face.”

First of all, you are obviously GORGEOUS and that co-worker is a fool. Second of all, how rude! I don’t know how you manage to have that conversation so often that would drive me crazy! I love the third picture of the two of you, how adorable!!
How rude!!! I just got married this past December (I was 23, so not exactly underage) and I have had several people look at my screensaver which is a slideshow of our professional wedding pictures and say “Oh my gosh you look SOOO young in those pictures!” As if I am either an old hag now 10 months later, or as if I looked like I was a little girl playing dress-up in my wedding gown.
Can’t people just say something nice and walk off??

My girlfriend made a comment on a photo of me & J that is in my house, but she said it to my other friend, not me. "That is a horrible picture of her." What? I'm sorry I didn't hear you… smack!
Oh… and I got a lackluster response about my ring today from a coworker. My Ally McBeal reflex kicked in as I used her head as a punching bag.
I have had a few people say that when they saw my wedding photos as well. I had one who asked me multiple times if that was really me even though I told him everytime he asked that it was. What can you do though.

Boo on people like that. I’d be tempted to reply something along the lines of, “You’re absolutely right. I should dress like that more often. A girl never can wear her wedding dress often enough!” Sheesh . . .
I would reply with, “You should consider wearing what you did the other day because you looked so much better that day then you do today.”
Doesn’t matter what day you choose to say it will get the message across to them.
Obviously I don’t know what you look like in person, but I imagine you look exactly as you do in your pictures!

Wow. Some people have no tact! I have a picture in my office that is of me and my younger brother when he was 6 weeks and I was 14 and people will always say how pretty “that girl in the purple dress” is. When they hear it is me I always get an “Oh, really?” Like I said, some people have NO TACT.
Since I have no idea what you look like in person I can only say that you are beautiful in pictures. Tell your coworkers to mind their own business and move on to insult someone else. For added effect tell them they always look like shit too.

LOL…you are beautiful hon! And you are human! I’m guessing you don’t care that you don’t look like a super model in the mornings when you go to work…just to impress your collegues. (You do look super-modelish in your pictures…) Just as long as YOU like what you look like on the outside…and inside…that’s all that matters.
And i’m pretty sure they are just jealous b/c you look beautiful. (they realize that they can’t look like you on a bad day…and cannot even begin to compare looking like you on a good day! LOL!)

Co-workers can be so beyond rude! I’ve had the similar situation with pictures at work. Don’t people realize that not everyone wants to spend hours getting ready in the mornings to see the same colleagues?
Ok, so technically I’ve never seen you in person, but unless you are putting some sort of mask and wig on everyday I highly doubt you look any different in person than you do in your pictures. Hello? You look like a model. I stand by that remark.

Don’t you just love those co-workers who should really think about what they’re saying before they speak??? I had one who told me that my wedding invitations were really pretty… but… the gold was smudged a little on hers. I felt like saying “Well then, why don’t you just give it back!”
Another one I get ALL.THE.TIME. that I just love – “Wow. You are SO photogenic!” Usually they’ll follow that up with “You look so good/pretty in this picture” It’s a nice comment, but all it makes me think of is “Wow. Am I that UGLY in person??”
Maybe just for fun you SHOULD change out your screensaver to a random picture of some couple that look nothing like you and Mr. Mojito – that way, when they ask, you can say that no, it ISN’T you!

I would get irritated too! I had a picture on my desk of me with my 2 best guy friends from college and they are very attractive and an older woman in my office would stop by every couple days and drool over the picture. She would show it to all the women in the office and say inappropriate things. It was really creepy and uncomfortable. Some people are kinda clueless when it comes to office ettiquette.
1. Emily’s comment about being his ex wife and loving her dress is just TOO funny.
2. It happens to me all the time. I photograph very well but in person a little plain. It is discouraging, however …. if i dressed that nice and wore make up everyday I would hate myself – I think.

You’re absolutely gorgeous, which we all can see from the pics you have up here all the time! But trust me…I work with all men too, and I am sure none of them would recognize me out of the office. I just think its kind of a waste of makeup given that I really spend most of my day in a cube talking to nobody!
I have never seen you in person, so I don’t know how you look obviously… but, doesn’t everyone know that you ALWAYS wear more make up at photoshoots/weddings because it shows up less in photos?? You wouldn’t want to walk around with “stage” makeup all the time! People are stupid.
