Mr. Mojito,
Do not pass GO! Do not collect $200. STOP READING THIS POST RIGHT NOW!!!
Love you!
Now where was I?
Oh yes, I need help/advice/opinions. Mr. Mojito’s birthday is quickly approaching, and I am at a loss as to what to get him.
He never wants ANYTHING and it is rather annoying. Last year I bought him a shit ton of clothes. The year before? Clothes and an iPod. Guess what he wants this year? Yep, you guessed it. He wants MORE clothes.
Sounds great and easy and practical, right? No.
I want to get him something more meaningful. He does so much for me and others that I want to spoil him a little.
He has always wanted a nice watch so that is high on my list of possibilities. Does anyone have any recommendations of nice watches for guys that do not mirror the cost of a Rolex or small country?
What brands should I be looking at? TAG Heuer? Cartier? Movado? Fossil?
GAH!
Maybe a TAG Heuer Link watch or something like it?
Does anyone have any other suggestions of what I could get him??
Help! Please?

I don’t know if there is a Macy’s in the part of Texas you’re in, even though there probably is, but here is a link for men’s watches. I don’t want to choose one that may be hideous to you, but you could probably choose one. Here goes:
http://www1.macys.com/catalog/index.ognc?CategoryID=23928&PageID=102773393633548&kw=Men%27s%20Watches
tag. definitely a tag!
Swiss Army makes fabulous watches – they’ll last forever and they have branched out into some pretty sweet looking ones too (not just I LOVE TO SCUBADIVE AND THIS IS MY WATCH watches). Evan is always complimenting my Dad’s so I suppose they are Hubby Approved as well???

My husband is pretty much the same, only worse. At lease your husband WANTS SOMETHING, even if it is something as boring as clothes. Mine really doesn’t want anything, which leaves me scrambling for anything at all. I got him the Colby Leather Valet with his initials monogrammed as a part of his Christmas last year, and for part of his birthday gifts in November I’m going to get him the matching Colby Leather Toiletry Case (http://www.potterybarn.com/products/colby-leather-toiletry-case/?pkey=ggftggfhim). I know you’re looking for something more than that, but maybe it’d be something you could put the watch in, something he could carry with him out of town, etc. and be reminded of you. I’m going to get custom engraved collar stays to slip into the toiletry bag.
LC loves his Tag. He wears it everyday. He bought me a Movado for Christmas, and I have been very pleased. Oh, I know Mr. Mojito’s a freelancer, right? But does he ever wear collared shirts to meetings with clients? If so, they have these cute collar stays at the Red Envelope with messages on them, and a version with more “risque” messages as well. Hope this helps! Can’t wait for the next chapter of SIBU=)
Tag makes nice watches, but another one to look into (that my husband is currently drooling over) is Tissot.
My husband and I received his-and-hers Tissot watches from our best man at our wedding. Highly recommend! I wear mine every day!
I got the hubs a Swiss Army watch as his wedding gift and it is really nice! I got it at Nordstrom and they have lots of great options. Good luck!
Miss Mojito!
I have a great link for you…LVMH has a friends and family deal on Tag watches – 50% off! I myself just bought a Maurice Lacroix from Gilt Groupe but that sale ended yesterday:( However Gilt and the other discount designer sites would be good places to stalk as well!
Here is the LVMH site:
lvmhpartners.com
On the lower left hand side enter access key:
ffsalefall09
Then just go to the Tag Heuer link on left, and “Friends and Family” underneath that…it was originally supposed to end yesterday but still works when I checked it just now.
Good luck!
My hubby loves watches! Breitling and Raymond Weil are good options and vary in price so you could find something in your price range. I have a Tag and I love it! And, like Breitling and Raymond Weil, they vary in price so you are sure to find something that fits your budget. For me personally, a Cartier is the piece de resistance. If you really want to treat him, go with the Cartier!
So my husband never wants anything either. I call him a research shopper. Everything he’s going to purchase (except clothes) has to be thoroughly researched before he decides on what to get. It’s quite annoying, so I usually just get him clothes. This year I got him a Blu-Ray DVD Player which he really liked. If the Mr. is a reader, you could get him a Kindle, I go one for my Birthday and I absolutely love it!
A watch is a good idea. I just got my husband one for his birthday. I’ve bought him a Bulova (I also have a bulova and I love it) which was nice but still reasonable. That one is nice and on the dressy side. Then I got him a different one this year at Fossil. A little more fun and casual but still nice. I think guys appreciate watches.
My bf’s birthday is today and he is getting…umm a card. Well really my present to him is going to be golf lessons but he probably won’t even cash that in for several months. Luckily he doesn’t seem to care about having things to open…I hate shopping for guy presents. I got him a fossil watch though last Christmas and he really likes it. I thought Fossil had a great selection and were a little more stylish then some of the more traditional watch brands.
Watches are great… plenty of choice in terms of price and style, provides a daily reminder about how well you treat him, etc. In a former life I was given a Tag similar to the one you linked to, and i thought it was fantastic, and never had a problem with it.
I’m kind of a watch fiend, and for about the last year I’ve been loving the Burberry watches I’ve been seeing…i like how they look, and that they’re not all that common but not terribly expensive either. But if you do decide to go tag/cartier/rolex/etc and you want me to check with my watch guy (who’s also my diamond guy who’s number I gave you) just let Maggie know and we’ll make it happen. He probably has Swiss Army/Tissot and some others too, I just can’t remember since I haven’t bought one in forever.
My husband is extremely picky about watches, but he loves the Kenneth Cole I got for him as a wedding gift. It’s classy and goes with both suits (which he has to wear every day) and jeans. Happy shopping!

My husband never wants anything and doesn’t really need anything either, so I’m going with something consumable this year, like a really nice piece of steak that I will (attempt to) cook for him.
I would get him a watch and a french cuff shirt and personalized set of cuff links, maybe with his initials on one side and then the date on the other? you could also engrave the back of the watch…
I love Tag watches, The preppy boyfriend also enjoys Kenneth cole watches, they have some really nice ones at the top of their line that are in the $300-$500 range and if you have an outlet nearby you can find them their for around $150, He also recently purchased a Skagen watch for me, and I love it so much, it’s incredibly unique and very well made, so now I’m stalking their website to find one for him.
Hy husband never wants clothes because he gets them all through work (he’s a golf pro) but he does love a good watch. He recently lost his Tag he’s had for about 15 years and wants a new one, but I told him I’m not gonna be the one to buy it – he can save up the money for that one. We got a new J Crew catalog this week and towards the back – or on the back, can’t remember, there were some really great TIMEX watches from J Crew – tranditional and classy – and he liked them. They are only $150 – and you could still throw in some clothes too! You can pick different strap colors, etc…here’s the link! http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Browse/MensBrowse/Men_Shop_By_Category/accessories.jsp
Good luck! Men are so hard to buy for I think!
P is the worst around this birthday also. Never wants anything so I always get clothes. He already has a nice watch, which is a great idea though. P loves his watch.
well if he does want clothes and he is a prep – let me know if you like anything from my boyf’s comp http://www.castawayclothing.com I could get you a discount code! xoxo KAG
I got my hubby, who does not consider himself a watch guy, a Tag and he absolutely loves it. Wears it everywhere… I forget the exact one I got him, but it is a Link chonograph or chronometer and it’s the kinetic one. It’s great, because it works for both dressy and casual situations.
Oh I have a Tag & my husband wants one sooo bad! I would definitely go with a Tag. The Link series is fabulous & it will work for almost every situation.
Tag watches are great, Fossil are too especially for durability. If he never splurges on himself, I think a watch is a great idea. You can always get the inside of it engraved as well!
Here are some ideas… Jake’s a bit of a watch freak, so we can definitely help on this one. Tags are great, classic and will last him forever. Also very versitile for work, play, etc. 2nd I’d say Movado, but I think most of their styles are less versitile. Cartiers are great, and classic as well, but my boss has one and is always having issues with his. Jake’s most recent watch purchase was a Hamilton watch, he LOVES it and he did a lot of research and it is a great watch for the $$. He gets a ton of compliments on it.
Orrrrr, just go the complete opposite direction and surpise him with a fun weekend away somewhere or tix to something you guys can do together… that way you could always include some clothes for him to wear on the trip!
Tissot – a Swiss watch brand that is really starting to gain popularity in the US. I got my fiance one last year and he absolutley loves it. His watch is made from titanium so it is as light as air. Good luck deciding!
Fossil makes great watches, but I don’t recommend the automatics. They’re great in theory, but my hubby’s doesn’t stay accurate, which he gets rather annoyed with. Other than that, he LOVES the most recent Fossil I got him for his birthday. They have so much to choose from…
Good luck!
Hmm. My boyfriend tells me that clothes are the worst kind of present to get
A watch sounds great… Fossil actually makes some gorgeous ones. Or, does he play golf? A nice set of clubs, or a new driver would always be a huge hit. Or try an experience type of date… skydiving, or a weekend getaway trip. Sometimes doing fun things together can be more meaningful than a material object.
I’m useless! Sorry! (why do I even post a comment if I’m of no help? I don’t know the answer to that one my friend)
i dealt with this dilemma last christmas. out of all the watches i saw, without taking price into account, this watch by burberry was by far my favorite. my fiance LOVES it.

it is such a gorgeous watch.
I think that’s an awesome idea!! Exactly what I was gonna suggest! Adam has a TAG Heuer and he loves it! I can’t wait to hear what you decide!!
I think a nice watch is a great way to spoil him and you can’t go wrong with TAG. I’ve had two (thanks to my hubby who is a fan) and purchased one for him as my wedding gift to him. He wears it all the time and continually receives compliments on it. Good luck!
Definitely the TAG Heuer. I wear one and have for years!
Def a TAG and you could get it engraved on the inside with a special saying/nickname/inside joke with your husband.
Watch is a great idea.
note…I just bought my husband a TAG for his wedding gift and found a great one at a TAG outlet in Houston, TX…saved hundred of dollars!!!!
Of all of those, a TAG. But, what about an Omega?
Good luck, my hubby is the same way.
My husband loves his citizen echo drive watch … like this one! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000ZPKWE4
Ugh. Aaron is the same way. Every year I struggle struggle struggle. Past gifts? Spurs tickets, underwater digital camera, tickets to see the King Tut exhibit.
I’d go with a Tag too. Or maybe a custom made tailored shirt. Good Luck, my hubby never ‘wants’ anything either so it is hard.
Diesel makes really cool and modern dress watch! You could check those out, otherwise Gucci makes really really nice ones, that is what I have and the men’s one are as nice! I don’t know what Mr Mojito does or what he wears but nice cuff links are also a good idea.
Have a great day!
Tag! I have a tag and LOVE it. It’s timeless and will last FOREVER.
Have a great weekend!
I have (the ladies’) Tag Heuer Link and love it. Very timeless and classic! Check outlets and Amazon for good prices!
I bought my husband a Tag for his wedding gift that he absolutely LOVES. He got the Carrera, its simple and classic.
Go with a Swiss Army!

i bought this one for my husband for a wedding gift. he loves it and so do i. it’s sophisticated and stylish yet kind of sporty. it’s really affordable too.
I have a Tag and I LOVE IT!!! It was my 10 anniversary gift. I wear it every day and would never even dream of getting anything else! They are beautiful watches and will last forever.
I saw someone said something about Macy’s. We opened an acct there and saved 15% I believe.
That was the best price we had gotten from the many places I shopped. The jewelry stores weren’t willing to budge much…Tag has suggested retail pricing.
Whatever you decide if its from you he will love it.
Good luck!
I love Citizen eco-drive!
i bought my husbo a rolex (as a wedding gift) and of course now he wants a breitling! i say go for the swatch watch.
Maybe you can get him an “experience” you two can have together, such as a gift certificate for a bed and breakfast you can go stay at, or a hotel in a town you’ve been wanting to visit.
I made my man an IOU book last Christmas of little things she could get from me including a massage, a walk in the evening, me to make him breakfast, movie night out, go to a sports event together, etc.
I’m sure he will love whatever you decide to do!
