emasculated

by Mojito Maven on November 24, 2009

Today, Oliver Pancake gets his balls chopped off.

16

He spent the morning whining and brooding around the house. Apparently he is one pissed off puppy. I cannot really blame him. I would be upset too if I was being castrated in less than two hours.

I tried to reassure him that having all his manhood was overrated anyway. Plus, having little Oliver Pancake’s running around would seriously cramp his bachelor lifestyle. He flipped me the paw instead.

Please sprinkle some fairy dust for our little guy. His surgery is more invasive than most spay/neuter procedures because he is cryptorchid.

ETA: Oliver survived his surgery. He has to wear a cone on his head for the next ten days. He hates us.

good luck, little guy!! my big ole coonhound still manages to attract the ladies without his manhood, so i’m sure you’ll still be a rockstar :)

Oh no! We could never bring ourselves to do this to Edward, so he is still full in tact. Good luck on the surgery!

Our little (manless) man still manages the air-hump quite well despite his status. Thinking of little Oliver today! :)

Seriously, this had me laughing at the first line.

But however, this is no laughing matter….. Oliver, hang in there, if anything, you still have your dignity!!!! :)

Hope all goes well!

Of course you would have a dog that would have a more invasive surgery–sure. Hope he does well! I’ll be thinkin’ about him.

How was class last night? I might have fallen asleep during mine. It was so good to see you!

XOXOOX LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE you

aww!! Good luck little guy! But like you said, having little ones running around would definitely cramp is bachelor style :-) No one wants that kind of baggage.

Poor little Oliver! He will be fine!

My puppy got fixed in September (she is a girl) and had to stay overnight, I was so worried but in about 2 days she was completly fine. It actually just became annoying trying to keep her from running and jumping around. My vet said that boys are usually bigger babies about the whole thing…which figures haha!

Nuts recovered pretty fast from his, but he didn’t have to have what Oliver has. I hope he is up and running around soon. (but not running too fast–don’t want to tear any stitches!)

Aw, poor little gut. Although my golden has been “emasculated” and ladies in heat still come around and they ahem, go at it, much to his happiness.

Awww, how cute is this little guy. Good luck to him. (new reader…) :)

He is such a sweet looking puppy. I have to admit that I googled ‘cryptorchid’…I had no idea what that meant :)

Hope his recovery is smooth and fast!

This post made me giggle – so funny. Have you checked out Burger’s blog from Young House Love? Their dog has his own blog now – Oliver should get one too – what do you think? How much fun could you have writing stories from his perspective? Good luck OP!!! We’re rooting for ya!

My childhood cat had the same condition…and he was not a happy camper throughout his operations (he had to have two). During the middle of the two surgeries-a 6 month time frame-he developed a strange affection for socks…that continued for the rest of his life.

Good luck to Oliver.

We’ve definitely been thinking of the poor little guy!

You are great puppy parents!

Hoping he heals quickly,

Poor guy. I hope it went well.

When I see you today I’ll tell you about Boudreaux’s experience. I don’t want to scare you by typing it and leaving it in a comment! :)
