12. Home Décor
I love your home decorating style! Where do you get ideas? Do you keep track of them in a binder/folder or anything like that? Do you do most of the decorating or does Mr. M help?
Thank you for the compliment! Honestly, I am not really that original when it comes to home décor. I basically shop at three places: Restoration Hardware, Crate & Barrel, and Pottery Barn.
I don’t keep track of my ideas in a binder. Usually I take the catalog and dog-ear pages I like. Then when it comes time to buy furniture or home accessories, I look at the pages I’ve marked and hit the store.
We do all our decorating together. Usually I have an idea in mind but I always ask Mr. Mojito his opinion first before we buy anything.
What every day china do you have and from where? And if you have a set for special occasions what pattern is that?
For everyday china we use the Aspen Dinnerware Collection from Crate & Barrel. Personally I think food looks better on a white surface.
I don’t actually have a fine china pattern. We use the Crate & Barrel dinnerware set for everything.
Where is your favorite place to get bedding?
I buy duvet covers, shams, and coverlets at Pottery Barn, Crate & Barrel, and Restoration Hardware. I buy all of our sheet sets at Bed, Bath, & Beyond. My favorite brand to buy is the Sateen Sheet Sets by Wamsutta. They are SO SOFT. I also love the selection of colors offered, though on our master bed we use only white sheets as well as white towels in the master bath (Restoration Hardware). I also buy our pillows, down comforters, matress covers, and feather beds at Bed, Bath, & Beyond.
13. Bling
What did your old engagement ring look like? What does your new engagement ring look like? Where did each ring come from? What carat size was the old ring? Is your new ring the same size?
My original engagement ring was a Cartier 1895 platinum solitaire with a round-brilliant center stone. I’d rather not comment on the carat size, but if you really want to know, send me an email.
For my new engagement ring, after much thought and consideration, we decided to upgrade the center stone to a larger carat size and keep the classic platinum solitaire instead of getting a setting with pave diamonds in it.
My new engagement ring (which should be delivered on Sunday so I will posts picks after it is sitting pretty on my hand) looks almost identical to my old one. This time around we decided to buy the stone separately and set it in a similar, but modified version of the original.
My diamond came from Whiteflash. My setting was custom designed by Brian Gavin Diamonds. Both of these companies were AMAZING to work with, have breathtaking diamonds, and flawless craftsmanship for custom designed pieces.
My diamond stud earrings also came from Whiteflash.
I am very well versed in all things diamond so if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to email me! I’d be happy to help.
What does your wedding band look like?
I have two identical diamond eternity bands that sit on each side of my engagement ring. I managed not to lose these at least!
How did you lose your original ring?
I honestly have no idea. Originally, I thought I put it on my nightstand and it fell on the floor during the night, but after retracing my steps, I think I left it at Petco during one of Oliver’s dog training classes.
Then again, it could still be somewhere in our house even though we have literally searched everywhere and exhausted our resources. (We even got Oliver x-rayed to see if he swallowed it.)
With our luck, when we finally move out of our house, we’ll find it buried somewhere.
If you find your missing ring by some chance, which one would you wear?
I’ll probably wear the new engagement ring and get the old one re-set into either a right-hand ring or a pendant.
14. Miscellaneous Part 1
What is your favorite hostess gift to give when you go to another person’s house for dinner/drinks/whatever?
A good bottle of wine and a cheese plate!
How much did you enjoy smelling my hanky pankys?
This is a post for another day…
Bwhahahahaha
Can you provide a list of your Top 5 favorite books?
The Help by Katherine Sockett
Baby Proof, Something Borrowed, Something Blue, and Love the One You’re With by Emily Giffin
Harry Potter series
The Witches by Roald Dahl
Bitter is the New Black by Jen Lancaster
If you could online access one website for a day what would it be?
And get free stuff? AMAZON.com because you can get ANYTHING on that site!
If you could meet any one writer, who would it be and why? What would you ask them?
Are you trying to kill me with this question? There are too many to count. But I would want to meet Emily Giffin. Her books talk to my heart. I’d like to keep private what I would ask her. Maybe someday I’ll actually get the chance
What inspires you to write?
The desire to get something down on paper that I can feel in my gut. Dreams and fantasies. Life. A snatch of overheard conversation, a sentence in a book, a piece of music, coming across an interesting or unusual fact. Anything can be inspiration.
What toothpaste do you use?
Crest
How many bon-bon’s have you eaten today?
Does Toblerone chocolate count? If yes, then four mini snacks.
What color underwear are you wearing?
Purple Hanky Pankies
What’s your favorite pen?
Uni-Ball or Ultra-Thin Sharpie in a rainbow of colors.
Do you like the smell of Christmas trees?
LOVE the smell of Christmas trees!
Do you like smores?
Obviously.
When did you first fall in love with your other squeeze, the Mojito?
My twenty-first birthday. It was the first drink I tried, and I was instantly smitten.
Are you religious or spiritual?
Both! I am a non-denominational Christian, but I also believe in spirituality.
Do you like football?
GO COWBOYS! (and Broncos!)
How do you feel about the Simon Barney/Tamra Barney divorce on RHOC? I know you are a Tamra fan.
Karma’s a bitch. Kidding. Honestly, it could be a good thing for them. Simon is portrayed as a controlling, emotionally abusive husband and Tamra comes across as rude and arrogant.
Also, I wouldn’t exactly say I am a Tamra fan. I just love how she said, “Holy mother of gynecology! Who has a vibrator with a cord?”

I cannot WAIT to see the new ring!!! So exciting!
No way…. I LOVE The Witches by Roahl Dahl, and I always figured I was the only one (over the age of 8). Rock on.
I love those Wamsutta Sateen sheets too, and I often get compliments on them from house guests.
Your rings are beautiful! You have great taste!
As a Vikings fan, I hope we clobber your Cowboys this weekend =)
I love reading these!
Sad to say I’m not a DG. I’m a Gamma Phi Beta. I was VP Membership of USC Panhellenic, so for a year I represented all 10 USC sororities, does that count??
Actually we have a ton of DG friends from USC, hence the shirt. That’s how much I love DG, I let my hubby run around in other Sorority’s letters, lol.
Right on on the WW. It really is the best! I remember reading your WW weight loss story a while back and loving it!
I just love your blog! So fun. I am also cracking up reading everytime you say “I dress like a hobo”.
The Witches? That is one of my all time favorite books from my childhood! I’ve even read it aloud to my class. Excellent choice
Did you ever see the movie as a kid? I used to rent it monthly with my sister from our Blockbuster.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who doesn’t like to comment on the carat size of my engagement ring. I get kind of uncomfortable when people ask. I feel like they judge you based on how big of a rock you have. Not cool! I can’t wait to see what your new ring looks like!!! I’m also doing a diamond eternity band with my ring.
do you think it’s true that people think others have more interesting lives than them? because i thought your life was so interesting and glam but you say you dress like a hobo when going to work and just buy things from 3 stores to get your wonderful decorating style. i still think you are interesting/ non-boring and love reading your blog!
Chick, I found you from BEB (Erin) from johnsons2kidz. You are cute as punch! I’ve enjoyed reading this hot mess! ;o)
I love your blog! I’m getting engaged soon — we just got our diamond this week. It’s an August Vintage Cushion from Good Old Gold. AMAZING! I am 99.99999% sure I’m getting the same setting as you — the BGD Grace, right? I LOVE how clean and simple it is. Please post pictures of your new ring!
