Sorry, dear readers! I have yet again been unbearably busy, banging my head against my cubical wall, and blog ignoring. I am lame, emo, and in need of a vacation. But whenever the sun decides to shine so I can take decent pictures, I have a Home Tour Tuesday and ring post all lined up for this week!
What has happened since we last spoke? Nothing. Nada. Work is still kicking my ass. Though I do have a nice stress blister adorning my lower lip in all its disgusting glory to show for my efforts. Awesome.
In other news, I have many a Christmas gift card in need of spending. But I have a slight problem. I am fashionably challenged and need help.
I love these shoes from J. Crew:
But are they a fashion do or don’t?
What about these:
Are slingbacks supposed to be peep-toe or is rounded, closed-toe okay?
What do I wear slingbacks with? Jeans? Dresses? Pencil skirts (not like I own any of these, but still…)???
Ruminate on this and leave me a comment with your thoughts!

I love the first but or praticality the second. Peep or closed either way, nice neutral color.
I’m not sure how I feel about rounded closed toe slingbacks, so personally wouldn’t go for the second pair. I like the first ones though…they could def. be worn with all of the options you listed.
I think you’d wear the pink a lot more than the first pair. However they are pretty snazzy and would look great with whatever. If you wear the pink with pants/jeans then the slingback wouldn’t be noticed as much if you’re concerned with that!
IMO the closed toe slingbacks are a bit ‘matronly’. Maybe it’s the color… I prefer open-toe on a slingback.
I have a pair of black closed toe slingbacks and I only wear them with dresses and skirts to work. Otherwise I would choose open toed slingbacks because they are more fun!
It’s a gift card so splurge on the top pair!
i hear the first ones just for their sheer fun factor, but i think you’d get a lot more wear out of the second pair. they’re more “classic” office-looking. i think it depends on what you’re going for…
LOVE the first pair! They are really fun to dress up jeans and a nice top for a night out. I’m not a fan of closed toe (especially rounded) slingbacks- too “matronly” or something…
There’s nothing Wrong with either shoe:). That means you get to do whatever you like…
I agree with Carrie, since you’re using a gift card go for the top pair, but I’m partial to bedazzled shoes.
You can wear both with slim jeans, dresses and/or skirts… both styles are kosher in the fashion world!
You can do whatever you want!!!
I’d totally wear the first ones, but, that’s just me. I love me an shiny bright shoe. Regarding slingbacks, I only have a few pair just because they aren’t the most flattering on me not because I don’t think they aren’t fabulous. The few that I do have are pointy toe or open toe. But, that’s just what I gravitate towards–both are super cute
Open toe. The closed toe scream middle aged to me. So does the color. It’s too safe. Go all in or not at all!
Honestly, I’m not crazy about the second pair. They just look like a pair of work heels to me. Although, the first pair. GORGS! You could wear those so many ways. I would get those;)

I am not crazy about the second pair as well. The first pair you could wear with jeans and a cute top or with a nice simple dress!
Also, it is nice to know others are sporting the stress blister from work. I have two right now!
I love the Cate Patent pumps. I love that color and do think you’d wear them a lot. BECAUSE you can wear them to work and to dinner. And I happen to love closed toe sling backs. I don’t think it looks middle-aged. Maybe I’m fashionably challenged and didn’t know it.
You can wear the shoes with skirts, dresses, and slacks. I promise!
I love round, closed toe slingbacks. What’s wrong with me?!
I am not a fan of slingbacks. I feel like you cant wear them with pants, because then your pants get stuck between your foot and the pant leg.
But i do love the jeweled shoes. Totally in right now.
Both are a great shoe so it’s hard choice! I think the first pair is what I’d go for bc they’d be super cute to snaz up an outfit or wear dressed down with jeans. Peep or closed are both ok..but Peep seem more comfy to me!
I agree with everyone here … the pink slingbacks you will get more use out of than the gold jewled ones. You can wear them for work, play and a night out
I can’t wear peep toes OR slingbacks- they don’t really agree with my feet. But I think its a bit odd to say closed toe slingbacks are matronly. I like the second pair best.
I think slingbacks can go either way–closed toed or peep toed. I personally think the pink pair are adorable, and would get a lot more wear than the first ones, but both are great!!

Rounded shoe tips make your legs look shorter.
I googled this they have some great tips.
Hope it helps you decide.
Personally, I love both and don’t think you could go wrong with either!
Round toe and closed is my preference — and you can wear them with anything. I love the look with a pencil skirt thought. I’m not a peep toe kind of girl.
I absolutely love the first pair!! So fun and cute. I like the second pair as well! I don’t think they’re too “middle-aged” because they’re a fun color.
DEFINITELY the first pair! i think they are just as versatile as the second; you could wear them dolled up, but they’d also be darling used to spice up a pair of designer denim and fitted t-shirt for a date night or night out for mojitos w/ the girls! let us know which ones you pick!
love the first pair! they are so fun and you would wear them just as much as the pink (at least I would!). If you want a “work” pair I would go black or nude.
p.s. love your blog!
slingbacks are the best… they do something exotic to your heel and accenuate your foot in a way no other show can. especially cute with just-below-the-knee skirts and pencil skirts…
i’ll enjoy following your blog. I hope you’ll visit me and stay!

I think both pair look smashing. Although, I would suggest seeing the colors in person. J. Crew’s colors don’t seem to translate too honestly in the catalogue or online…XXOO
