formspring me!

by Mojito Maven on February 23, 2010

I joined formspring.me two months ago and received an anonymous comment informing me that joining a site where people have free reign to ask me questions made me narcissistic. That wasn’t my intent when I created the account so I stopped using it. Fast forward to the present where everyone seems to have a formspring.me account. Maybe it’s not so narcissistic after all.

So I’ve re-activated my account.

Blogging is inherently slightly narcissistic. People, if you don’t like bloggers, don’t read blogs!

I joined Formspring too. Not sure what to think of it yet, but I thought, “what they heck.”

I agree with NND that blogging is inherently narcissistic. But what would people rather you blog about? The people in your life? Your friends and family? Wouldn’t that be gossip and hurtful sometimes? That can’t be any better, and I honestly think it’s much, much worse!

Hmmm. I’ve read your blog for awhile and no offense but I tend to agree with your anonymous blogger. I liked it better when you blogged by writing stories about what you were up to, a funny moment, a cute anecdote etc. But for the past couple of months I feel like there has been a shift in your blog where your stories are no longer stories. I’m not trying to be critical, I’m simply saying that maybe your old readers miss your old blog- this one tends to be a lot of advice or points you want to make. It just seems to be kind of missing the old you. It’s great to grow and I respect whatever you want to write about but I do miss the old blog- it seemed a little less self centered.

Your reasoning is a little off, “Fast forward to the present where everyone seems to have a formspring.me account. Maybe it’s not so narcissistic after all.”

This doesn’t make it any less narcissistic it just means that a whole lot of people are narcissists!
Including you.
