I received this quote in my inbox this morning.
It made me think about the past…friendships, relationships, memories.
I remember when my relationship with Mr. Mojito was rocky at best. A senior in college, my heart was still mending from a long-term relationship that recently ended. Mr. Mojito came into my life when I needed him most.
But our relationship was not exactly accepted by those we thought were our biggest supporters. Friendships were ruined from words and actions that could never be erased.
It felt like around every corner was another obstacle trying to tear us down…rip us apart.
We have never forgotten that time in our life…the time when someone else’s insecurity and jealousy became so overwhelming it nearly destroyed us.
But it didn’t. We stood our ground, together.
Those times made us stronger…chained our hearts together.
I often wonder if we never experienced those times what our relationship would be like today.
But then I remember there are people in life you cannot live without. That is Mr. Mojito for me. Period.

To my darling, sweet, patient, caring, loving, hilarious Mr. Mojito,
HAPPY 26TH BIRTHDAY!
You have an odd sense of humor (are you really going to make me watch Men Who Stare at Goats?!?), an unhealthy love for the Dallas Cowboys and Snoopy, and a certifiable addiction to chips and salsa. You are a beer snob, a master at dubbing voices for cartoon characters, and strangely overprotective of your 2000 Chevy Malibu.
But you also have a quiet, gentle heart and a loving soul. You, along with my dads, are the best man I know.
You are my entire heart…
I love you,
MM

Mr. Mojito,
Do not pass GO! Do not collect $200. STOP READING THIS POST RIGHT NOW!!!
Love you!

Now where was I?
Oh yes, I need help/advice/opinions. Mr. Mojito’s birthday is quickly approaching, and I am at a loss as to what to get him.
He never wants ANYTHING and it is rather annoying. Last year I bought him a shit ton of clothes. The year before? Clothes and an iPod. Guess what he wants this year? Yep, you guessed it. He wants MORE clothes.
Sounds great and easy and practical, right? No.
I want to get him something more meaningful. He does so much for me and others that I want to spoil him a little.
He has always wanted a nice watch so that is high on my list of possibilities. Does anyone have any recommendations of nice watches for guys that do not mirror the cost of a Rolex or small country?
What brands should I be looking at? TAG Heuer? Cartier? Movado? Fossil?
GAH!
Maybe a TAG Heuer Link watch or something like it?

Does anyone have any other suggestions of what I could get him??
Help! Please?

Let’s talk about home improvement projects for a moment, shall we?
Now Mr. Mojito is great at many things…math, buying me flowers, teaching his students, mowing the lawn, cracking hilarious jokes, being a wonderfully caring husband, cleaning the bathroom.
One thing he is not so good at is ANY home improvement project.
For example, take this Restoration Hardware mirror:

Looks pretty nice hanging on our wall right?
Want to guess how many hours, different attempts, and phone calls to various dry wall companies it took to get this mirror hanging on the wall? TOO DARN MANY!
I realize not everyone is great at fixing things around the house, but seriously I did not expect this mirror to be that difficult. You put two level holes in the wall and hang it up. Wrong.
AND it is not just hanging your basic mirror…caulking the shower, installing shelves, replacing the half-bath faucet, putting together IKEA furniture (ok, maybe I can let this one slide because the instructions were in Swedish)…the list could go on and on.
Over the past year I have come to understand that there are just some things best left to professionals…in our household, home improvement projects fall into that category.
I am just sad it took us this long to figure it out! We should have just saved ourselves the time, money, and energy and went out for mojitos instead.
Thank goodness he makes me laugh everyday.
Love you honey! [waves hi to Mr. M]

Welcome to my new home on the Internet! Creating this site has been a true labor of love, but I am thrilled with how it turned out.
If you currently subscribe to or follow my old blog and want to continue reading my rants, ramblings, and raves about whatever pops into my head, then you will need to subscribe to this site and remove my old blog from your follower list and subscriptions (the subscribe button can be found in the right hand corner of my blog underneath the header). Also, please do not forget to update your blogroll!!
Besides the fact that I need to add my blog name and tagline to the header (which should be done this weekend), my new site is finally ready.
Getting the new site up and running has completely consumed my life for the past week and a half.
First and foremost I have to say a HUGE THANK YOU to Mr. Mojito. He made this site possible. Thank you honey for spending countless hours setting it up and fixing the mass amounts of problems we experienced. I wish there were a thousand words for love…
Also, I have to say thank you to Ami at EAD and Nina. You have both been such great resources and friends while I was pulling my hair out and cursing at the computer trying to get this site ready.

Thank you to the beautiful Vanity Fair for bestowing upon me the “Honest Scrap” Award. I have never seen this award and am so excited to receive it!!!!!
The rules for the “Honest Scrap” Award are to list 10 honest things about myself and I am not to hold anything back (no shyness here).
Note: Mr. Mojito has decided that he would like to jump on this and he is going to tell you 10 truths about me so I am going to bow out for now.
1. Mrs. Mojito is a very good cook. The problem is that we are very indecisive with creating a “menu”, so she doesn’t get to show off her cooking skills as much as we both would like.
2. Mrs. Mojito has toe “issues”. Bare feet walking around the house? It’s just not going to happen.
3. Mrs. Mojito does not like to put her clothes away. Instead, they end up on the bed post until a large pile builds up and we are threatened to be buried in a clothes avalanche.
4. Mrs. Mojito is from Colorado, but she cannot stand the cold. She greatly prefers when it is warm until it is time for bed when it must be very cool with the ceiling fan on (even if it is 20 degrees outside).
5. Mrs. Mojito has a memory that scares me. She can remember any event, quote, face, anything. It’s really quite frightening (especially because it means I can never get away with something hoping she won’t remember).
6. Mrs. Mojito loves to go out to eat, which is something I love doing with her. Even though Weight Watchers can sometimes get in the way, we love nothing more than sitting down to a nice dinner at a romantic restaurant (possibly with a mojito thrown in the mix).
7. Mrs. Mojito has a way of seeing right through people that also frightens me. She can just look at me and instantly know exactly how I am feeling, what I am thinking, etc. Like I said before, very frightening.
8. Mrs. Mojito is really a sports fan deep down. She claims that she was very into hockey and football before we started dating. Before we were married, she would only watch the occasional sporting event just because she wanted to make me happy. Now, not only has she been converted to a Cowboys fan, but I think there are some weeks when she is more excited about watching the game than I am!
9. Mrs. Mojito has an extreme aversion towards the grocery store. Fortunately for both of us, I kind of enjoy grocery shopping (I know, weird right?) so we never have to argue about who is going to the store. The only problem is that I sometimes come home with food that she would have talked me out of buying had she been there with me.
10. Mrs. Mojito loves, loves, loves American Eagle tank-tops. You can pretty much bet that she will be wearing one under just about any outfit that you see her in. I guess it’s a good thing that I find them very cute.

Also, Kirby from Good Gals Inc. gave me the “Your Blog is Fabulous” Award! I am going to direct you to this post from when I won this award originally. Thanks for thinking of me!

Today my dad, Mr. Mojito, and I spent the day in Fort Collins at the New Belgium Brewery. I went as the designated driver because I am not a beer drinker (and it was a good thing I did haha). It was so much fun!! New Belgium makes several famous beers such as Fat Tire, 2 Below, Trippel, Sunshine, and 1554. Fat Tire is one of Mr. Mojito’s favorite beers so I knew I had to treat him to the tour.
Before the tour we were each allowed to sample 4 different beers. Being that I do not drink beer I let Mr. Mojito have my samples (plus on the actual tour you are given even more beer to sample). Needless to say Mr. Mojito was definitely tipsy by the end of the tour. All in all the brewery tour was a great way to spend a Thursday!!
Look at all that beer he drank!!!

My husband is a weather nerd. I will never again have to look up the weather to see if my day is going to be hot or cold, sunny or cloudy, or dry or humid because chances are my husband already knows the answer. His dream job would be a meteorologist or a storm chaser like those on Discovery Channel’s “Storm Chasers.”
Usually I like to tease him about his hobby (but secretly I think it is adorable), but last night his hobby was actually useful.
Scene: We are in our bedroom getting ready for bed around 10:15 PM.
Mr. Mojito: Honey, make sure you dress warmly tomorrow. A major storm and cold front are coming through in about 20 minutes.
Me: What kind of storm? Is it going to prevent me from sleeping tonight? [Let’s be honest that is all that matters right?]
Mr. Mojito: Heavy rain, high winds, and there is even a chance for tornados. [We are both TERRIFIED of tornadoes]
Me: Uh huh [rolls eyes]. I am sure it will be fine.
So we get in bed. Sure enough about 20 minutes later the lightening and thunderstorms start. Then I hear the wind, and I start dozing off to sleep. While almost in a full state of slumber I swear I can hear a faint sound of a horn blaring. I figure it is just the wind howling outside so I keep sleeping…BUT the sound keeps growing louder. I finally jolt myself awake and yell at Mr. Mojito, “Are those tornado sirens going off? Is there a freaking tornado outside our house right now? What should we do? I am freaking out. HONEY!!!!!!!!!!!”
So we go to our downstairs bathroom and wait for either the tornado to come or the sirens to stop. I can practically read Mr. Mojito’s mind…it says, “I told you so hahahahahahaha.”

We had a FANTASTIC weekend celebrating Mr. Mojito’s birthday! Thank you to everyone for leaving Mr. Mojito birthday wishes!! On Saturday evening I treated Mr. Mojito to Craft Dallas for his birthday celebration dinner. Can I just say that our dinner was seriously DROOL WORTHY??? Craft’s motto is, “From the farm stand to the table.” All dishes are served family style which is great because we were able to try several amazing dishes. Here was our menu:
Drinks:
Mojito for me (obviously)
Tom Collins for Mr. MojitoFirst Course:
Fennel and Blood Orange Salad
Intermezzo:
Smoked Salmon with an Olive Tapenade served over Rustic Bread
Second Course:
Caramelized Onion and Gruyere Risotto (I cannot even begin to describe how incredibly delicious this dish was…I seriously wanted to lick the plate).
Beef Short Rib with Root Vegetables
Roasted Cauliflower
Intermezzo:
Watermelon and Ginger Spritzer
Dessert:
Beignets served with Clover Honey and Dark Chocolate Ganache (there are no words)
Clearly this meal far exceeded my 35 flex points on Weight Watchers BUT it was so worth it!! Hopefully on Thursday my weigh in will still be OK!
Yesterday started week 4 of our training run. My ankle was really sore when I finished running and it is still sore today so I think I may take a few days off to let it heal. For any of you experienced runners out there….I have been icing my ankle every night and I am going to let it rest for a few days. Do you have any other suggestions?
All in all it was a great weekend!
AND I know this is silly but I just realized that in the past 2 days I have lost 3 followers which makes me sad. Humph…
Several bloggers have given me the Superior Scribbler Award and the Smile Award!! THANK YOU SO MUCH and I am sorry I have been so late in thanking you!!!!

Today is your 25th birthday! Happy Birthday my love!
I love you.
Those three words, which at first glance, seem simple, even plain.
But, there is an honesty and complexity to those words…a promise made deep in our hearts…a promise of commitment, compromise, and support.
“I Love You” is the place where a part of you will forever be a part of me.
You are the strength that keeps me trusting.
You are the hope that keeps me faithful.
You steal my heart and you take my breath away.
You hold me in your hands, protecting me…you won’t let me fall.
You are the light to my soul.
You are my purpose…You’re my everything.
I love you and I promise to cherish you all the days of my life.
I still mean this. Today and everyday!
BUT I could not end your birthday post without a few of your better moments.
Mr. Mojito is a man of many faces…
